Given how little I've heard about the 4870s I doubt they'll be out any time soon, if at all, since all I ever seem to hear is rumours. Given ATI's slim research budget, I think the graphics market is probably going to remain pretty stagnant until AMD are either bought out or get back in the black.

Guys, so my 3850 is going on Saturday. Think I can manage a 8800GTs for 200? It IS noticeably better than a 8800GT right?

    LOOOOOOL

bang for buck id say the 3850 is better, but for sheer performance (which is wat IMO your lookign for) id go for the 8800GT.

all depends on the res u game at, caus 3850 can be bios modded or even OC ed 3870 speeds, and at 1280x1024 with 4XAA (bar crysis) everythign should runs smooth as a babies behind xD

It doesn't really surprise me, since Abuzar is so obsessed with making the most minor of hardware upgrades on an absurdly regular basis... It doesn't offend me, it just confuses me. As far as I'm concerned, no it isn't really much better than an 8800GT. Look at their scores in the table I posted earlier. In most games you couldn't put a pin between them. In none of the games mentioned is the 8800GTS G92 even as much as 10% faster than the 8800GT. Why not just track down a 3870 and overclock it? You can find those for cheap these days, and it won't be some cheap no-name brand either.

The cheapest 8800GTS G92 on newegg is $230.

Realistically though, what you should be doing Abuzar is keeping your HD3850 until a decent graphics card comes out. One that is actually a decent amount faster than the 8800GTX without relying on a dual graphics system, and preferably one with 1GB of RAM.

Guys, I'm making a profit on it. I'm selling the video card for 180, when I bought it for 170. So why not spend a few bucks more and get an 8800GT?

Still short on money, I wanted to pick this card up.

    Is this a good card?
Does it have a good price/performance ratio?
I'll also be looking at $20-30 less than listed because I'll be selling my x1650 PRO 512MB for $20-30. How much do you think I can get if I sell that card? It's a decent gamer card that supports HDCP.

For that price it's almost a steal! Get it, it's pretty cheap.

It's cheap for an 8600GT, but that's not exactly a huge upgrade from your X1650.

So your saying that it wouldn't be much better than an 6800. My x1650 PRO isn't better than my 6800, it only has more memory. With the new 9800s released, I think if I wait for 2 weeks to a month, I could get better deals. The rebate on that $50 one ends on April 15th so I got time to look around for better ones. I missed it but they had the 8600 Zalman Edition for $70.

Grab an HD2600XT, they're not bad for the price.

if so i would go for the GT, if its higher and u want loads of AA and AF go for the GTX

From what I read the 2600XT is slightly better than the 8600GT, but not as good as the 8600GTS.

Yeah that's my Max. I've been trying to finish FEAR lately so I can run at that resolution and Max out everything.

Man that guy says he is selling it to someone else. So I'm back to square one.

Hey Sam, do you understand now? I don't take a loss going this so that's why I upgrade on a fairly regular basis. I'm actually MAKING 10 bucks to sell a video card I used for a few months.

    EDIT: How does this look?

Understand what? The way I see it with every PC component you buy there's a risk you'll get screwed, and the more you buy, the more likely it is to happen.

As for those cards, personally I think the MSI 8800GT is a better deal.

Yeah I was thinking that too. 30 dollars is way too much of a premium. Hey is there anyway I could route the hot air from that card directly to the outside of the case? Would this work?

BTW, how am I gonna get screwed? I'm not buying another card till this one sells. That's Saturday. That's when I plan on buying another card. The person already put down 100 dollars in advance for it.
