My 716-A seemed to be ok with Ritek's 4x media & seems to do well with Ritek (Maxell brand & Ritata) 16x media but then I have the latest firmware in the burner.
Well you guys convinced me the slot loader I got must've been a fluke. Took the girlfreind to Micro Center before the mall to point out the Plextor 716AL $139.00 marked down from $189.00[told her the Christmas tree lights would burn out without one under it xmas morning]just gotta keep the lady happy till X Mas. Has anybody used the Quantum they also had them marked down? Chris
Maybe somebody could cut to the quick here on what is the best -R brands. I've used the Taiyo Yuden bonus packs for a couple of years with no problems until the last couple of stacks. I see several Yaiyo Yuden users recommend burning speeds at 4X and 6X. I've always burned at 8X with no problems (until the latest problems). I'm using an 8X Lite-On burner. Thank you.
check and make sure you have the most up to date firmware , the Taiyo Yuden is the best IMO you. You may have a bad batch of dvds. your burner may be going bad. you might try a different brand (Verbatim) and see if you have the same problem
@inazsully, Taiyo Yuden and verbatim would probably be considered the best by unanimous vote. Hey Pacman, did you ever end up conducting any quality tests on CMC media at all? I'm curious as to how they turned out if you did... There are some people(such as the memebers at CDfreaks) that swear by CMC media.
Well I just picked up a new Pioneer DVR-115D. I read a review and the burns looked good with TYG02's (8X-R) at 12X. Most here seem to think you have to burn the discs at half the rated speed. My contention has always been to find media than works with your burner. This is a Pioneer burn made with ImgBurn set at MAX. It got to 12.6X towards the end. Looks like I found the right combo.
