My mate just an Openbox S9 and when she put on new firmware she got the dreaded clone message on screen and box was dead. I managed to get it back working though using via RS232 and a certain version of uploader and certain version of firmware. Can't remember which versions they were but if anyone has same problem just and you need it just ask and I'll dig it out. Gotta run for now.

I think you should have just posted the info about the stuff and where to get it from would have been easier, as im sure there are lots of clones out there and you people where warned about the openbox as soon as they came on the market by myself but hay some people just dont read

correct me if i'm wrong on this but clone or not it is a computer. as such you can do your best to kill it but as i understand it that is completely impossible. serial (null modem) cable with correct bootloader and associated image will always correct the situation. there is no such thing as a dead computer unless you are running the incorrect software for the machine. True? And if you have the means (ie null modem cable) you can always sort the issue!!!

Actually it is quite easy to bring the box back to life once you have the right Loader and software as Mooley said earlier, it happened to me and SG8, and have also been fixed by many 'noobs' There are many loaders out there it is just a matter of getting the right one to work for you and for me the software dated 15th of March done the trick.

And all you need to do is connect the box to computer via null modem cable with the box powered off, open and run the loader, select the software, click connect and quickly switch the openbox back on, and the box will flash, and it is as easy as that.

Thats the one dave. Sorry I couldn't remember the date of firmware that worked but had someone waiting outside in car to collect me when I posted last!

And as I mentioned e45 I did not purchase one, a mate did. She had not asked my opinion before doing so. Anyway it works perfectly and she's extremely happy with it now.
