Well mine is more of a portable media player. I have the Archos av 480. I once owned the archos 320 and the only thing I didn't like about the av 320 was that it was a bit too big and heavy. The 480 is ligher in ounces and is a bit slimmer. I wish I had a protective rubber shock absorbing ends to fit the archos so I can work out with it. I love its sound (though it could get a bit louder). Sound is very clear and crisp. Supports both secured and unsecured wma's, wmv's, MPEG4, divx and Mp3's. I hear that you can mod it with linux software and make it into a minuture pda and support many of linux formats. Can store like 80 two hour length movies in vcr quality. I love it. I really wanted the ARCHOS PMA but it only goes to about 30 or 40 gigs, the wi-fi has a lot of bugs to work out and I wish the screen was bigger. Hopefully Archos will bring out an improved version with atleast 60gigs, better wi-fi and bluetooth capabilities and a bigger, brighter screen. I do love that it has a propritary linux OS software and the ability for the user to add other modified linux software. So it is very capable

My first MP3 player was a 512MB model MP-300 from Jens Of Sweden. It's got FM radio, voice recorder and FM transmitter which allows me to play music wirelessly on my home stereo. Another nice feature is the built-in USB connector which can be slided out to connect to my computer and it sounds really great!

its great. 5gb and i only payed $119. the olympus m:robe mr-100. the screen is glass
covered so it can barely scratch ever. The software for it sucks a$$ but at http://
www.mrobe.org you can download hacks, upgrades, and mtrip (the bad software)
alternatives. all in all a nice player.

I have the Iriver H320 and did the whole korean firmware flash thing to it. I've put about 12 full movies on it and about 300 songs and still have 14 Gigs free. Works like an external hdd once you connect it to a usb slot you can just copy files from one to the other, built in mic, fm tuner, battery life is pretty good. not the prettiest thing out therre but it does what they do and then some.

Cowon iAudio XL5 60gb is by far the best portable device ive used.. has the biggest audio file playback out of any player ive seen.. even plays FLAC lossless format which is such an amazing sound..plays DIVX video stuff too..line in/out recorder and USB on-the-go FM radio/recorder..really is bloody fantastic.. taking the songs straight off your mates mp3 player or digital camera or audio from any source ya can find is brilliant.. acts as an external hard drive too..and can view loads of text files too if that interests ya.. battery life is 30+ hours and 60gb is great too..its suprisingly tiny too.. anyways i recommend ya check it out

Argg, that looks like a sweet piece of kit right there.

Shame it's only 20gb though, way too small for someone with a 60gb+ music collection =)

I've only owned one player other than my iPod Video, and that was my Creative MuVo N200 (now Micro), and I personally prefer the iPod but I did like the FM radio and recorder. But when my Micro malfunction a month after purchase I was told even though still in warranty AND one of 7% of the ones reported this happening, I was told I would have to pay for a new one, so today when I was opening my xmas gifts I got an iPod and I havent had any problems so far other than synching Videos. But overall the micro's okay

I forgot about my little standby- 256mb San Disk Cruzer mini flash drive w/mp3 companion. Good battery life on 1 AAA battery (lithium has lasted for a week and still shows full capacity after about 1-2 hours use daily). The San Disc cruzer mini flash drives come in bigger sizes too. I think up to 2gb.

I actually have another MP3 Player that's 20 gig. I'm gonna use that one for music.

And Use the Audio/Video one for Music Videos and T.V. Episodes (family guy) and a couple movies.

I listen to classical music and I got tons of Classical Performances on DVD. So this is perfect!

Never had an urge to play MP3 files on the go before. I always use the old portabel CD player with headphone amp for best sound quality. But after all these portable MP3 players, iPods, etc. I had to check out the player myself. I purchased Archos Jukebox Studio 10 off the Ebay and upgraded the HD to 60GB HD, installed the Rockbox OS software. It only plays MP3 files but it can be use as portable USB HD device. Just drop the MP3 files to the player and you are good to go. I should be able to install all my CDs into this player and I will have my entire CD library on the go.

havingfun - I had a similar player to that as my first mp3 player. It's a tad 'bricky', but a great little player. I had the 'recorder' rather than the 'studio' model, which allowed me to record from my hi-fi as I didn't have a PC at the time. Nice little runner..
