christ. i didnt even know its been that long. i only got mine in january. thats before the 275, gts and all the other ones came out. the gtx 295 was out just as i got mine but there were asking stupid money so i couldnt afford, unless i used my overdraft lol
They still are. The GTX295 came down about £30 a month ago because the HD4870X2 went down, trouble is, that went down by £50, and was a lot cheaper to start with. If the GTX295 had the same bandwidth characteristics as two GTX280s it'd be worth that price, easily. Since it's two GTX260s though, it's absurd.
i have just ordered my hx1000 anyway lol just need to pick up a more gtx's if have the money. well i do but it needs to last over the holiday lol
the enermax revolutions are amazing, according to the reviews. extremely quiet (im sure more so than the hx1000w) and over 90% efficiancy!!!
Anything would be quieter than the HX1000, except the Enermax Galaxy haha... Reading the Galaxy's acoustic performance, it's worse than the HX1000, substantially. The Revolution should do the job, but given that the 1KW Galaxy failed a 900W load test, are the Revolutions really to be trusted on such a precedent?
why not? its a brand new line. just because the fx5xxx line failed nvidia, doesnt mean the 6 series was bad, infact hey were fantastic
Hardly an appropriate analogy. Who knows, the Revolution could be much better at high load in the real world, but until I know someone who's tested it for real I can't say. As efficient as the new Enermax units are, the build quality of them still concerns me, as well as the price. The 850W Corsair HX is £138, versus £184 for the Revolution. The 1050W isn't so bad at £207 versus £190, but even so, that's a lot of extra money, when you'e already paying through the nose.
just got my new corsair hx1000 today from scan and its in my system. great stuff. the noise of it seems the same as my tx750. just gotta get rid of that now i have no use for it. thanks for all the comments and help. huge box for a psu lol corsair must of read my mine, i was wanting some zip ties and was going to go out and buy some today, but then the hx1000 turned up and the cable ties are there lol
Yeah the zip ties that come with the HX1000 are handy. The noise of the unit put me off though. It's about average at idle, thoroughly unimpressive but not terrible. However, load it up beyond about 400W and it quickly becomes very loud. Of course, very few people who own 1KW PSUs actually use more than 400W anyway.
