lol - man, if i had that tower computer i would love it. I don't think i would be too upset about hard drives since there are plenty at 10,00RPM :-D The graphics card costs about £1000 i think and the memory is amazing, as are two Xeon 3+GHz Processors. Feck it would probably fly
yes i noticed the graphics cards however your UT2K3 performance wouldnt be up to par with something like the top end Radeon/GeForce simply because they require proprietory drivers and as such focus entirely on pixel precision (simply because the cards are designed for CAD type work rather than FPS). A moot point but a point nonetheless. Yeah they are fast but what happens when you run out of HDD space?
The graphics cards 256MB memory should sort that problem out i guess. I could always sell it and get a 256MB ATI Radeon 9800 Pro or something i suppose. When i run out of hard drives i will probably throw the computer at somebody and cry. Nah, not really. I have 160GB HDD (2 drives) and i only ever use up around 30GB. Except when i rip a load of DVD's onto the computer, but they usually get burned the same day :-D
The computer I use the most now are: Toshiba 2450 Portable Pentium 2.8 Ghz 512 Ram 60 Gb Hard drive I think only 4200 rpm Toshiba SD-R6012 DVD-Rw 1x burner (most of time 1.5x for -R) 15.1 XGA (1400x1050) 32Mb Nvidia GeForce4 420 video Hrman/Kardon built in stereo speakers 3hrs batter life Max power Running Wind XP home lots of available ports Other computer Pentium 200MMX 64Mb Dimm Ram 60Gb 7200Rpm hard drive Maxtor 3.8Gb 3600Rpm hard drive Compaq Running Redhat 8 most of the time (Format ever once and a while to put other OS's) 2Mb video Card built in Sound baster on board. Selling feature was JBL pro speakers with Subwoofer. Other computer Power Macinosh 7200/90 OS 8.61 1GB hard disk CD rom drive Floppy drive Other Compter 486 Dx 66 8mb ram 5.25 floppy Cd rom drive 3.5 floppy Running Win 3.1 all the time. Yes my appartment is crowded.
Well I have 3 so I will work from top to bottom: System 1: Video Editing P4 3.06 with HT 1GB Ram (1) 40GB HDD for OS and Apps (1) 80GB HDD for Storage ATI AIW 9700 Pro SB Audigy 2 Platinum DVD-ROM Sony DVD±RW System 2: Everyday use and File Storage AMD 1800+ 1GB Ram (1)40GB HDD for OS and APPs (2)120GB HDD Storage SB Audigy Platinum DVD-ROM CD-RW System 3: Mobile Dell Lattitude C600 750 P3 384MB Ram 20GB HDD CD-Rom All systems running Windows XP Pro and too much other software to list. Yes its all legal. It pays to work for a school district that pays for licenses by the user so I can install copies at work and at home.

Finally i get to show off!! - P4 3.20 ghz overclocked to 4.6 GHZ(Im Using my own cooling invention, VERY GOOD keeps processor at 43 degrees celsius. cost me $130 to make.) - 2 Raptor 9200rpm 350GB each Hard Drives (700 GB Total) - 1024 MB Of Kingston Hyper X Series DDR RAM. - ATI 9800 PRO 128mb of video memory
Dude thats crazy, why do you need to overclock a Pentium 3.2 Already that is amazingly fast! I do like the Hard disks, why didn`t you go for the 10krpm Scsi models with that setup or the 500GB Fireware dives?
I'm well impressed but it is essentially a waste of money. I'd rather wait 6 months and pay a lot less and wait for software to catch up also.. You must be loaded dude!
Since I never get rid of computers/components until they die or I put them in a friend's machine, I have several computers. Besides that I'm self employed as a network consultant and my customer's occasionally give me old machines just so they can get rid of them. Main PC CPU: P4 2.4GHz RAM: 768MB PC2100 HD1: 80GB Seagate Barracuda ATA V HD2: 40GB Seagate Barracuda ATA IV 2nd PC (for Wife/Kids/Storage) CPU: Athlon 900MHz RAM: 384MB PC133 HD1: 20GB Maxtor Fireball 541DX *HD2: 40GB Western Digital Protege HD3: 40GB Western Digital Caviar HD4: 40GB Western Digital Caviar *This drive is removable and I also have a 30GB drive I only use for Ghost images Laptop 1 CPU: Celeron 1.7GHz RAM: 256MB PC2100 HD: 30GB Laptop 2 (for Wife) CPU: P3 600MHz RAM: 128MB PC100 HD: 12GB Laptop 3 (for Print Server) CPU: P/MMX 233 RAM: 128MB PC66 HD: 3GB
WOW your print server is better than my other computer. THere is a lot of power in the old Pentium models. My P200MMX is still pushing hard.
I've got the following. AMD XP2000+ Runnin @ 1738Mhz Abit AT7-Max2/XP Mobo & Media XP breakout box. Seagate 40Gb Hard drive. 768 Mb's Ram running at 333Mhz Nvidia GeForce Ti-4800se 128Mb NEC DVD+/-R/RW 1300A Ricoh CD writer Liteon DVD reader Logitech mouse(Optical) and keyboard SoftK56 Modem Creative 5.1 speaker system And lots of fans and no lights or other gimicks! Thnx
Yeah, it's a great computer. When I was teaching UNIX classes I used it in class as a server until the backlight on the display burned out. It was a good excuse to set up a print server, and I'm still impressed by how well it runs Windows 2000.
