Did a Google search and ended up here and now I'm ADDICTED. I curse all ya'all, lol. It's been a very rewarding experience and I'm enjoying it.
I joined AD because I had just got a DVD burner for X-mas and I had no idea how to use it so I searched the net and I found this site with all the great guides and downloads( O and best of all the forums).
actually, my bad! I joined to ask technical questions re: dvd burning/video rendering; got really interested to the point of providing, at least I think, resonably valuable technical responses to others/newbies... AND THEN... became an addict of SAFTY VALVE not sure if it's a face or face I should be wearing ??
My story is much the same: posted my first because I couldn't decide between a Denon and a Yammy. Came back a second time a while later because of DVD burning frustrations...saw a noob post from a guy with problems setting up his Denon 3805 so I thought I'd help him out...haven't left since. I've learnt a hell of a lot here from some really great guys and I'm looking to learn a hell of a lot more.
Joined to ask some questions on audio and stuck around. A great decision on my part. Have learnt so much during my time here.
I joined because i was nterested an what you guys were saying in all the forums.Curiosity got the best of me and wow there are some peeps who are so helpful here.Im never quitting.
I joined about 1,5 years ago (I think). Basically I learned how to rip a DVD to DivX using the guides (and software) on this site. My first movie was Star Trek: First Contact, and it took me about 3 days to get it right! Since then I ripped 2000+ movies to DivX and after buying a DVD-burner I copied 1000+ DVD's. If I encounter a problem, the first site I visit is Afterdawn. Great forum, great guides, great software...and absolutely free! This site is what internet is all about!
@gear: You're not from Philly by any chance? Believe it or not, in Philly, the plural of desk is pronounced "dessiz", pl. for test is pronounced "tessiz" and at a great sale, you can buy two "suitzes" for the price of one. I kid you not! People from the burbs call it "Phillyspeak".
Because every time that I had to figure something out Afterdawn.com was always the place that Google would send me to. It is the best.
@ gerry....nope, i am from south central texas, waht we have here is tex mex language half spanish, mixed in with english..
Just a little over 3 years ago I got my first DVD burner (a 2x Pioneer for the amazing low price of $230) and after checking out several sites I found via Google I found a couple of great posts here that got me started. One of those threads is still a sticky in the Advanced Users forum: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/3004
