Then try kfree's suggestions, double check your d0 point after screwing it down to make sure it isn't shifting off.
upon closer inspection it is not making contact with d0 it is slightly towards the front of the xbox is there a chance I got a mis-shaped chip ?also one of the pins was stuck in when I got it..but its not stuck all hte way in so it is making contact
Thats exactly what I was talking about. No matter how much you try to position it will always shift off when you tighten down, a little or a lot. Remove the screw, position the pins on the points where they need to go on the board and look down on the screw hole. If it was like mine the hole center on the x2 will be offset from the screw hole center on the xbox. Mine was off quite a bit. If its off, good luck getting it into position without enlarging the hole.
I got it going I wrapped a strand of speaker wire around the pin that was out of place the one that goes on d0 and I stuck the other end of the wire in the d0 hole..and Voila! Green Light is on
what bios do you currently have on it now? the cromwell or the evox? you should be able to get the evox pretty easy, was able to dag lost the site that had the most recent update, but i figure as long as you have recent version just go thru the process of burning the new EVOX bios to a cd-rw and load should be good there
werd, good job on getting the chip working as far as bios go to irc.. EFNET servers.. and join #xbins.. they have bioses.. as far as making the cd. HOW TO MAKE THE BIOS CD #1 - download the 4977 xecutor bios off the ftp site listed above and extract the files #2 - off the same ftp site in the dir /XBOX/bios/xecuter/flashbios_cromwell get the file "xecuter_flashbios.zip" and extract the dummyfile.exe #3 - get xecutor2 bios maker (x2bm) off this site (w00t for hosting it) and extract #4 - load up x2bm and click import. you want the X2_4977.bin file in all four banks. #5 - click save and save it as bios.bin; im fairly sure it automatically makes it a bin, so dont put a ".bin" in the file name. #6 - have the dummyfile.exe make you a 100mb file and put it somewhere you can remember (desktop is fine ) #7a - if you have windows xp just burn the 2 files using the integrated cd burning software. make sure you close the session or whatever. #7b - if you dont have winxp (lamer), use nero. have it burn a data cd, no multisession, disc at once and finalize. i recommend burning at 4x that was from x-s forums.. hopefully that helps
guys thanks for all your reply's I got it off a website late last night and then played a few games of College Basketball 2k3. I'm using Xecuter 4977
I still get the blue LED's, but I booted up and it asked for a BIOS disk. I burned a bios disk and it installed on the xbox. when I load up the xbox with the modchip switch enabled i get the word x-ecuter under the xbox logo. but the LED's are still blue. Do i just ignore them, or is something wrong? And how can I test if the chip is working. I haven't got any backed up or imported games just yet.
if you enable the modchip, the blue led is on but the green led won't be. If you disable the modchip you'll see a green led and 2 blue led. Every thing seems to be working find for you. All you need to do now is install the Dashboard.
Oh, I see. But the green LED is only supposed to come one for a second right? cos thats all it does for me. And by dashboard, you mean the evolutionx yes? do I need that to play backups? or is it just an extra to play with the settings? BTW I managed to finally get the thing to work by using foil. I found a guide for using it with that and it worked.
New Problem...Installed Evox 2812 and tried to connect Via FLASHFTP and no luck...keeps saying connecting but I get nothing. I have it installed with a Crossover cable straight into my NIC. I also have a Wireless LAN in my system. any help is appreciated
Hey sswats Where did you find the tutorial on using foil? BillyJ I'd bet you need to set your IP info to be similar. Does anoyone know the boot order of a x2.2 lite w/ 4977 bios... i made a mistake on my hard drive in my ini file, and now i can't seem to boot any cd's.
Where is the d0 Point? is that the point that corresponds with the "single contact" on the mod chip...? or is it on the mod chip? also: what do you mean by scrap/scratch? If what i think your talking about is the point explained above... what did you use?
I am also having probs getting mine to work. I have tried scraping the d0 point and everything and cant get that green light to light up for me.
well i got mine to work now... basically the part where the green lite is.. just make sure its lined up... do it by eye.. look below... while holding it down... and see if its lined up... then look back through the holes... see if its lined up.. then screw it down... not too tight, but tight... so it wont' move... then press down on the green light part... so that its pressed. and screw down a bit more... or test to see if it worked... i kept doing this method trial and error.. and it finally worked.. only problem is... i guess my chip was bad or something. cuz it started smoking... but everything worked.. i was loading up the thing... then i turned it off... took it out and it gives me a black screen... everything works.. but i got a black screen... i'm guessing either my xbox is dead... or... maybe the chip deleted my xbox bios...? i dunno... but hopefully its not a serious thing.. i pray it isn't.. cuz i don't wanna pay another 200 bucks.
I still cant mine to work. I have tried everything. I thought maybe the LED was bad but it says it cant read the disc when i stick the CDRW in.
well spine with my x2.2lite plus chip i mounted to the board turned mod chip off so u should get 2 blue leds and 1 green, if the green doesn't come on just slightly nudge the chip to the right that is tap the top right corner of the chip it should eventually line up the d0 point and the green led will come on. mine works fine no probs other than having to reset my live ip and dns settings whenever i go back to regular dashboard?? cant figure it out!! anyone know let me know??
well make sure not to overtighten the screw!!! remove it and make sure the contact points are extended!! they have springs in them so if u press one inward u will see it move inward. but my best experience to get mine to work is to have it on the board and slightly move itto the right, move it slow though.
