OK, I really don't think this thing likes me! Now when I insert the cd, it says that it found a Bios Update but then it says "Unknown Flash! Halting" Now I know that this is a good bios. Why won't is read it?

Make sure you don't have the write protect on so it can flash the chip.

Which bios did you install? If you installed the x-ecuter 2 4977 bios, it wouldn't be still asking for Linux stuff

The bios I installed was the Xbox Linux BIOS ("Cromwell"). Can I change this one if it is not the right one.

Why did you load that unless you wanted to run Linux on your XBOX. Now you have to make a Linux boot CDRW and load that up and when it ask you for a bios...put in X-ecuter 2's 4977 bios so you can play your backups and stuff.

How do I make a linux boot disk though? Keep in mind that I know very little about computers.

Download the image and burn it to CDRW. Goto the Downloads section of my site and download the file and read the instructions.

Try a different ISO. goto www.ozchips.com (they made the boot disc) or something like that and try again.

I have had the same problem. I first tried to install the Linux based crap, then realized I did the wrong thing. If anyone has any advise on how to change back to get Evolution-X running, please comment on this. Thanks.

I actually have an Xecutor 2.2 Pro and I have had a lot of trouble flashing the bios. I get a verification error everytime I flash it using my PC. And when I try to boot it doesn't look any different then the normal boot or doesn't boot at all. The only bios I have successfully booted was the Cromwell Linux Bios 1.8 and that is worthless. I tried to load the Evolution X 2.3 1 meg bios with no luck. I tried the Xecutor 2 4975 bios and it wouldn't boot. I even tried using using a short parallel cable from a zip drive (long cables supposedly cause verification errors). Anyways I just want to be able to load the evox dashboard. Please help.

Your problem is, you are using the wrong parallel port settings. Second, you are using old bios. Use the X-ecuter 2 4977 or 4976.02. Make sure your evolution X dashboard is named evoxdash.xbe for the XBOX to boot properly.

So what parallel port settings should I use? There is 3 different options. I am working on getting 4977 as well.
    Thanks

Hi, I have the same problem as nXtOfKiN
I am desparate on getting a new bios installed and maybe have better luck with that one. So nXtOfKiN how did you get that other bios installed? I also have the "FlashBIOS(Cromwell)" that came preflashed with my X-Ecuter 2.2 LITE[+] mod chip. I can get it to reconize the bios but then is says "Unknown flash! Halting"

How did you do it please

What bios did you use? and did you ever get to install a new bios that can run "Evox dashboard"

    Thanks

Make sure your write protect is off when trying to flash the chip.

I found out the answer to error "Unknown Flash! Halting"

First boot up you xbox so it goes to the "FlashBIOS (Cromwell)" and after it says to put in a bios CD, disconnect your mod chips external switch (unplug it). After you have done that put in your CD that has your bios.bin and dummy files. Once when you do that it should install your new bios!

Or simply turn off the write protection switch ;)
