For some reason when I turn off my write protection switch it doesn't change anything

so if anyone else has this problem just unplug the external switch and it should work

OK... here's the problem. I have the x-ecuter 2.2 lite +, installed it fine, got to the "please insert bios update disk now". so i wanted to put on evox2.6 . OK, here's where I messed up. the evox2.6 is a 256K file, and I loaded it directly on. I know the 2.2 Lite is a 1 MB bios chip, correct? So the bios loaded anyways, and now when I turn my Xbox on it turns off twice, and flashes green/red. Is it possible to get past this or go back? I think I'm screwed unless I buy the programmer... but correct me if I'm wrong.

Yep, pretty much screwed. The chip only flashed the first 256k of the 1MB. If you only flashed a 512kb file, you would still be ok. Anyways, get yourself a programmer ($15US at most sites) and live and learn!

For some reason, now I cannot install EVO-X. I have a new and good bios installed and I can play my original games but backups won't work! Is my Mod screwed or what?

If you can't play your backups or can't see the "X-ecuter 2" logo on the bottom as opposed to the "Microsoft" logo, then you didnt mod properly. Check your connections or have a professional do it.

Its possible your XBOX DVDROM drive is dead or dying. Thus, you can't boot the evox discs and other stuff.

How do I get around this then? Buy a new Drive? If so, where do I find one?

Get a drive from a friend with an XBOX or buy one on ebay.

This is my first try at modding my xbox. I have a xecuter 2.2 Lite+ modchip, and a v1.0 xbox. I think I installed the chip correctly, because when the chip was on it went to the FlashBIOS screen and asked me to insert BIOS update CD.

I added the Evox D.6 BIOS which also seemed to work fine. But I thought when the chip is on it should say xecuter 2 when the dash boots up. Mine says Microsoft if the chip is on or off.

I have tried running the Evox boot disc, but this also does not work.

Any suggestions? Do I need to buy a flash programmer and change the BIOS on my chip?

It will only say "X-ecuter 2" if you are using the x-ecuter 2 bios. For the XBOX not booting the evox disc, try burning it on another type of cdrw.

I'm having the same problem as dr394. I have almost the exact same setup, with an x-ecuter 2.2 lite +. I posted on here a little while ago about the bios problem, I just got the programmer today, deleted the old bios, loaded EvoXV2.6- V1.0 (this time, yes, I did do the 1024 file deal), and it seemed fine. Well, it seemed fine in that nothing changed after that, which i gather is supposed to happen, every time it booted it went the normal way, booted to the microsoft dashboard, etc. so i burned the evox, version EvolutionX_V1_8_3752, almost positive I burned it right, I redid it a couple times, and I know the burning works on this disk, although I have been using this 1 disk for some time so maybe that's the issue, but when I boot from the evox disk nothing happens, just goes to microsoft dash saying "cannot read this disk"... So am I doing it right? Could it really just be the disk or do you think it might be something else?

Its the disc. I hope you aren't trying to boot a evox CDR...cuz that won't ever work unless you have a Samsung dvdrom in the XBOX. You have to use a CDRW...try a different brand of CDRW if you can.

Also, why the heck are you guys loading the evox bios onto the x-ecuter 2 chip?? Its so outdated thats its not even funny. Use the 4977 X2 bios. You don't need to have the evox bios to run evox dashboard.

I just had that same problem. Did your evox files contain the bios and skins folder when you downloaded it. Thats the one I use and it worked fine. I tried one that only came with the .ini and .xbe files and it gave me that same error.

OK, i took your advise and loaded 4977, but unfortunately i don't think it worked, unless it's supposed to still say 'microsoft' at the bottom, but I thought it would say xecuter or whatever. what i thought i might do is load the bios they flash it with when they send your modchip to you and see if that will work, but i have no idea what it's called or where i can get it.

One more thing. I think that the problem might be that my programmer isn't actually writing to the chip or something, because when I read from the chip onto my comp the read produces a file with 0 kb (no size), but I'm not sure. is there any way I can actually tell if my chip has a bios on it?

Ok I finally got the 4977 bios loaded, the problem was that the lite programer has a ground wire it says you must attach, but this isn't correct for the lite+, for this you must have the other enable switch board plugged in, making sure it's switched to unprotected when you're flashing it. so now it says XECUTER2 when I turn on xbox, so I'm assuming it worked, now i just have to get the evox working...

Hey n1tro I noticed on your site you're selling pre-modded xbox's I was wondering I know it says in details ready to play and other stuff etc... So I am guessing I wouldn't have to mess with bios and stuff? Cause all I really want to use a modded xbox for is to use the XBox Media Player, I was going to get a new dvd player but deicided to get something that can play almost every popular format a Premoded XBox. Also anyone else know how good it plays SVCD's and stuff? Is the play back like any other dvd player that would support SVCD's? Thanks in advance for any replies

Yeah the SVCD playback is just like a DVD player's playback. I can set it up for you so you won't have to mess with anything.
